Good morning sunshine! My DIY coffee bar

Well good morning sunshine! My new coffee bar is now part of my morning routine and I love it.  It sits perfectly right in my breakfast nook (another DIY project).  I can't wait to fire up my Keurig before getting ready for work each morning.

Check it out, I'm so proud.  I found my inspiration pic HERE.  She did an amazing job!  Of course, imitation is the highest form of flattery (thank you Ms. Coco Chanel) I saw the inspiration coffee bar and I thought to myself, "I could do that".  Haven't we all, right?!? So i decided to do it.  I spent all day looking around town. I tried Target, Marshals, Goodman's, blah blah...nothing.  And then I hit up a couple of my local hot spot thrift stores and I found this little beauty for $8.78.  If you look close you can see they actually used a marker and wrote the price right on the top.
a diamond in the rough
...really rough.

I had a vision.  I knew the old TV cart I just bought was about the same size as my inspiration piece and I figured with a little TLC and a bunch of nails, screws and paint it would work.  My husband had doubts.

I sanded the whole thing, took out the flimsy shelves on the bottom, removed the door and added feet.  I had some scrap wood so I added a shelf similar to my inspiration coffee bar.  Here's a progress pic. Oh and since furniture feet are about $10 per piece I bought fence post toppers instead and they were less than $3.  Plus it gave me the added height I wanted.
I wasn't kidding about the screws.
This thing is solid.
I cut off the extra lip on the back and used it on top for a back

I originally thought I wanted baskets but I bought a couple hinges and both the top and bottom panel flips down for storage.  That's where I keep spare supplies and misc items.  The middle section works perfectly for displaying pretty bowls and cookbooks that used to be stored away in a drawer somewhere.

Here it is.  My finished coffee bar! I use it everyday.  The only item I purchased new was the wall shelf from Hobby Lobby.  It was a little pricey but I waited until it was on sale.

The "H" I stole from my laundry room but it originally came from Hobby Lobby.  The white creamer cow, coffee mugs and coffee supplies came from Walmart.  The canisters were originally from Hobby Lobby but I had them in another room and simply re-purposed them - in the larger one I keep hot chocolate and the smaller one has raw sugar.  I've also added another smaller container (not pictured) that has individual creamers.

Really, everything I need is right here.  I LOVE IT! If you have the space...do it!

Good morning sunshine!
